What does an application look like?

We know that applying for an undergraduate program in Defence industry might feel a little bit intimidating, to help you navigate this we have pulled together some tips and tricks to set you up for success!

The GradX application process involves several steps, to help us learn about you and your career goals. You will need to apply in your second-last year of study, to ensure you can be onboarded in your final year.

GradX candidates who make it past the application stage will be asked to complete a series of online assessments and may also be asked to complete a one-way video interview. If you progress beyond this phase, you may be asked to take part in an in-person assessment day which will include an individual and team-based activity.

Some tips and tricks to help with your application:

  • Be yourself. The best applications are those which are genuine. We want to understand why you are attracted to the defence industry, and specifically to Raytheon Australia. It is important that not only you are the right fit for us, but we’re the right fit for you.
  • Try to relax. When recording your video ensure your audio is clear, you are in an environment free of distractions, and you are standing or sitting in front of a plain background – you are the focus and we want you to be at your best.
  • Put your best foot forward. Ensure your CV highlights your recent experiences, skills, achievements, and your expected graduation date. We will use this to see how it aligns to the work that we do.
  • Tell us about you. When submitting a cover letter, don’t replicate the contents of your CV. We want to know why you are applying for the role, and what sets you apart from other applicants – we want to see how your background and interests showcase your GradX factor.
  • Do some research! Ensure you familiarise yourself with Raytheon Australia and what we do. It will help you feel more confident and maybe even give you a competitive edge! Check out our website and social media channels to learn more about our people, programs and latest achievements.

At Raytheon Australia we pride ourselves on being a strategy-led, values-based organisation. We work with great people, and we are looking forward to new GradX participants joining our team.
