Working Hours at ACT Government

Flex time means you can leave work early and make it up the next day. It also means you can take an arvo off if you've accumulated enough flex. Working 7 hours 21 mins per day is very achievable.

I generally work 1-2 days in the office. My company is extremely flexible when it comes to office hours.

I'm an advocate for the 4-day working week, so I'm not satisfied with any regular 5-day working week. Ideally, we should be measured on our productivity. That said, the ACTPS has relatively short hours at 36 hrs 45 min per week (7hr 21 min days). They are generally very flexible with how you spread those hours, but it will depend on your supervisor and your job. Some work requires you to be present within regular working hours. You will also be working on 'flex-time' which means all hours are recorded and any overtime you worked can be taken off at a later date. You'll always be paid for your time spent working. They are very flexible with work location. Most staff I work with work from home. Ultimately, they have the best set up I've seen for a 5-day working week, I'm just not a fan of the 5-day working week.

Work hours are very flexible within ACTPS between the hours of 7 am to 7 pm. Flex sheets are available.
