Shorouq Shaheen

7.45 AM

My day begins – I wake up and have a light breakfast. My breakfast is usually a muesli bar or some fruits. I then get dressed and head downstairs to my home office.

8.30 AM

I start the day by checking my schedule and emailing Zoom links to my telehealth clients. I then check my emails and create a quick ‘to-do list to ensure that tasks are completed in time. Finally, it’s time to get ready for my first telehealth session.

9.00 AM

I usually have a telehealth session scheduled at this time. My client and I discuss the previous week and any news we would like to share with each other. We then start working on therapy goals with some breaks in between to stay focused and most importantly, Have fun! The client that I see at this time is a 7-year-old who I have been working with for 2 months now to improve his speech. We are making great progress towards his goal of improving his speech intelligibility.

Here is my home office where the telehealth sessions are completed.

Office

10.30 AM

I typically leave the house at this time if I have clients I’m seeing face to face. I put on something to listen to while driving to my clients to enjoy my ride.

11.00 AM

I have a face to face session at this time with a 4 year old to improve his social and play skills. The improvement of these skills promotes the development of other skills and areas such as critical thinking, creativity, language skills and emotions.

Here are some of my favourite resources to bring to sessions.

class

12:30 PM

It’s lunch time now. I enjoy a wrap or some noodles and watch some YouTube videos. I use this time to relax and reflect on my morning.

1:30 PM

I finish my lunch break and continue with my sessions for the day. I sometimes use the rest of the day to complete a report for one of my clients.

2:30 PM

I have a face to face session with a middle aged adult who has suffered a traumatic brain injury which effected his speech intelligibility. We are currently working on his clear speech techniques to improve his speech intelligibility.

5.00 PM

I finish up my case notes for the services I provided today. I then send reminders to the clients I’ll be seeing tomorrow and ensure that they do not have any COVID-19 symptoms.

6.00 PM

I usually have dinner at this time. I like to go for something healthy and easy to prepare. I also watch my favourite TV show while having my dinner.

11.30 PM

Bed time – I set my alarm for the next day and go to sleep. See you tomorrow!
