Please describe the training programmes at your company and tell us what skills you've picked up.
BCD offers a range of training and development opportunities. We have weekly lessons learned meetings within our department and monthly sessions to share insights across the company. These meetings are valuable for discussing new techniques, experiences, and learning from past mistakes. Formal training programs cover the latest engineering software, tools, and analysis methodologies, while informal on-the-job training such as readings is also encouraged. The mentorship from experienced colleagues, especially my buddy, has been particularly instrumental in my professional growth.

After a brief period of training to make sure you know how to use the gear correctly it was mainly hands on learning. Everyone in the team is very helpful so I just asked questions of whoever was around if I got stuck. If I'm given a task that I have never done before then I will usually get a quick run through about what needs to be done.

You are assigned a buddy who will teach you the ropes. Do not be afraid to ask as many questions that you need. There's no need to be afraid of annoying them or getting under their skin. Here is a direct quote from the Office Manager "I empower you to do whatever you can to do your job" Some of the biggest skills you will develop are your communication and coordination abilities. Learning to ask the questions you need to ask at the start of a project and keeping notes will help you develop faster.

Everyday i learn new things on the job, it is up to me to put the research in when i take on a new project to find the right products/solution for the job. Sometimes we go out to site and it is a great opportunity to learn about structures/ processes and others in the industry. I havent done any formal training yet apart from study but we are doing a training half day on the 23/02.

The training is all on the job. I feel this good be improved. My coworkers work hard and have to take time to teach others this may be a strain on them to do so.

Regular Tuesday focus meetings with Tryphina are really good. Bridgette and Tryphina are always showing me how to do things and explaining things fully so I have obtained a diverse range of knowledge from them.
