About the Internship Program

Laing O'Rourke equips interns with the foundational knowledge and skills necessary for success through their comprehensive 12-week Internship Programme. The program offers interns the chance to work on a real project site during the summer.

About the Environmental Engineering Stream

A sample of the type of tasks you may complete as an Environmental Engineering Engineering Intern include

  • Attending site meetings
  • Maintaining strict quality control procedures
  • Monitoring Key Performance Indicators, data/metrics and work schedules to track and forecast progress in alignment with the overall project program to build
  • Conducting regular site safety checks and activities, preparing reports and closing out actions raised
  • Plan and produce work methodologies for the safe delivery of work scope with self-perform and/or sub-contract delivery models
  • Support the site supervision team for safe and efficient management of site operations
  • Ensuring the project runs to schedule and to budget, finding solutions to problems that may cause delays (i.e. late arrivals of materials)
  • Coordinate with key project stakeholders, including design consultants and relevant authorities to ensure compliance

About you

To be eligible for the Internship Program, you must meet the following criteria:

  • At the time of application, hold Australian/ New Zealand citizenship or Permanent Residency
  • Be in your second last year of university studies (penultimate year)
  • Be studying a relevant degree to the role advertised, Bachelor of Environmental Engineering / Environmental Science or a related degree
