Your role

Laing O'Rourke is dedicated to equipping interns with the essential knowledge and skills required for success. Their 12-week Internship Programme offers participants the opportunity to work on a real project site during the summer, providing practical experience and valuable learning opportunities.

About the Health & Safety stream

A sample of the type of tasks you may complete as a Health & Safety Intern include:

  • Apply your understanding of Occupational Health and Safety legislation to a live construction project
  • Utilise common health and safety processes, tools, and procedures during site inspections and investigations
  • Facilitate a Fatal and Severe Risks (FSRs) review and/or workforce engagement activities
  • Apply our highly regarded Safety Program principles to promote, and contribute to, a safety-first culture
  • Support our Inclusion and Well-being agenda which ensures our approach to safety acknowledges both the physical and psychological risk factors in construction

About you

To be eligible for the Internship Program, you must meet the following criteria:

  • At the time of application, hold Australian/ New Zealand citizenship or Permanent Residency.
  • Be in your second last year of university studies (penultimate year).
  • Be studying a relevant degree to the role advertised, Bachelor of Occupational Health & Safety / Bachelor of Civil Engineering or related degree.

Additionally, there are possibilities for interns to continue working in a casual capacity while completing their studies.
