Every month, millions of people across the world are downloading MongoDB to transform industries and build amazing apps that are used everyday. We believe that making data easy to work with allows our users the opportunity to free their genius and create something world-changing. The database market is massive (IDC estimates it to be $121B+ by 2025!) and MongoDB is at the head of its disruption. Join our team to help us ‘Think Big, Go Far’ this summer!

We're seeking a passionate intern to help shape the future of our Atlas Charts data visualisation product. Working with our Sydney based product management team, you will help plan projects and ship features that will delight our growing customer base. As an intern you will work directly with MongoDB’s product managers, user experience designers, and software engineers. You will be fully integrated into the team helping to analyse users’ feedback and advocate on their behalf. You will mine various data sources to discover new product requirements, develop and communicate product strategy to relevant stakeholders, maintain roadmaps, prioritise backlogs, and deliver and launch new capabilities to drive our product strategy.

What we are looking for in you

  • In the process of receiving a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, a related field or alternatively you have a background in STEM and are now pursuing your MBA
  • Technical skills; while not expected to write production code, you should be comfortable diving into new code, learning from existing examples, exploring APIs, triaging bugs, analysing support cases, etc
  • Communication skills, both verbal and written - for example should be comfortable participating in a customer conversation or documenting your ideas for new features
  • Curious and have a desire to learn and adapt; you are a self starter and thrive in ambiguity

What you’ll find at MongoDB

  • A workplace culture where you are encouraged to bring your whole self to work - we believe that Embracing the Power of Differences is the best way to broaden our own perspectives and foster innovation
  • Hands-on mentorship from MongoDB employees who are passionate about developing your skills and helping you grow
  • Membership within our Affinity Groups where you can gain mentorship and learning opportunities from employees with a shared background or common identity
  • Impactful projects where you can Make it Matter - your meaningful work will see the light of day
  • Insight from groundbreakers in tech, including our executives and department leaders through networking events
  • A fun community of fellow interns to spend the summer with and attend social events, hangouts, and games nights
  • A chance to see if MongoDB is where you see yourself long-term with the possibility of receiving a full-time offer at the end of the summer!

This program is open to students with Australian or New Zealand citizenship or Australian Permanent Residency expecting to graduate in the next 12-24 months. MongoDB internships are full-time (40 hours/week) for 10 consecutive weeks lasting from dates in December to early February.

We provide interns with work-life balance through a flexible culture that includes a ton of great perks and benefits. From paid time off and paid company holidays, unlimited snacks in the office, a Headspace meditation app subscription, complimentary fitness and yoga classes - we are committed to your well-being!  Learn more about the Sydney internship program and the MongoDB Australia office.

The coolest thing about my job is the team that I get to work with! The Storage Engines team is a globally distributed and diverse group of individuals, and everyone is very open to sharing their experiences.

The code that the storage engines team manages has cutting-edge algorithms. We have a few select people who read research papers to make sure that we are always the most efficient. I found that so cool!
