If you are in your second or third year of study at the university studying engineering, engineering science, mathematics, statistics or related qualifications then we want you to apply for an internship with Stantec. This is the perfect opportunity to work across an exciting and broad range of projects!

Scope of work 

Be part of our Water Team in Auckland that specialise in water and wastewater services. The Auckland based Undergraduate Process Engineer will contribute to several projects that we’re delivering for our clients. These projects will include many facets of consulting engineering such as feasibility, planning, design, construction and commissioning. The candidate will be mentored by an experienced team of process engineers and contribute to these projects. A list of development skills that we offer include:  

  • Provide input and support with Process Flow Diagram (PFD) & Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) preparation
  • Site visits to water and wastewater treatment plants to learn about how treatment processes work
  • Verification of as built P&IDs & plant layouts on site
  • Liaise with suppliers and learn about new technologies and products
  • Learning to use carbon estimation tools
  • Introduction to water and wastewater standards including drinking water guidelines
  • Learning basic Visio and AutoCAD skills
  • Report writing, proof reading skills
  • Introduction to chemical dosing, mass balance calculations, unit process design and modelling
  • Introduction to Council water standards, guidelines and typical details and how to incorporate these into engineering designs
  • Exposure to other discipline skill sets where opportunity presents such as mechanical and civil
  • Exposure to other business lines such as transportation and buildings

Type of projects/clients involvement:  

  • Watercare, Wellington Water and other regional water utilities
  • Ministry of Corrections

Preferred but not limited to Chemical and Materials Engineering, Environmental Engineering

Who can apply 

To be eligible to apply you must: 

  • Be in your second or third year of study
