How do you think the graduate program has set you up for success?

The graduate program helped me to understand the way the organisation works and introduced me to key leaders. I also think the rotations I completed helped me decide the direction I wanted to take in my career. The biggest benefit, however, was the friendships I built with the other graduates that I met while doing the program. We’ve progressed through our careers together, and there are still quite a few that I call on for advice and support when I need it.

What has been your career highlight over the past 10+ years?

The project I’m currently working on, WestConnex New M5, is a big career highlight. It’s really exciting to be part of such a significant infrastructure project. I’m learning a lot and working with a fantastic team. The Hunter Expressway Alliance back in 2010 was also a highlight. We had a great culture and a high performing team that made coming to work every day enjoyable.

What advice do you have for new CIMIC Group starters?

Take control of your own career progression and development – don’t wait for someone else to offer you an opportunity. Make the most of the opportunity to rotate throughout the graduate program. Be proactive in maintaining the relationships you’re building with the other graduates on the program. Your careers will grow in similar ways and as the year’s progress they will be a great source of support.
