8.4
8.4 rating for Diversity, based on 30 reviews
Please provide further information on diversity with respect to women, ethnic minorities and LGBT. Please comment on issues such as recruitment, retention, promotion, child care, maternity leave, etc.
The office has become more diverse during my time here. The company has a strong commitment to inclusivity and anti-discrimination. Parental leave and flexible child care arrangements are common among my colleages.

The company is diverse and everyone is respected. Minority groups are treated equally and the company celebrates diversity. Work events are inclusive, but it would be good to see alternative events planned for employees who don't celebrate religious holidays. For example, the christmas party is the biggest event of the year and it is enjoyable, everyone is invited and welcomed. However this might not be inclusive of people from other religions or backgrounds who don't celebrate that day. It would be good to see events such as 'End of year' party aswell

We are getting there with women but there is still not enough representation. Lots of talk but no concrete things to fix the issue. My current company does not have great work from home options but I realise this is different for other CIMIC operating companies.

Much talk but have not seen appropriate results.

The company do a lot of online and in-person events to talk about issues or to celebrate culture, but nothing above and beyond. They do have tracking on their internal website for women and indigenous people however they are currently not meeting their targets.

The environment in my office does not care about differences or differences, race, religion, or sexual orientation as long as the employees remain professional in carrying out their work. And regarding promotions, retention, child care, and maternity leave as far as I know it is always done fairly

Most managers seem understanding of child care needs. But generally I find there are less opportunities for flexibility of child care in a site engineer role. Additionally, I am unsure on the paternity and maternity leave policy but from what I have seen there is a lack of paternity leave taken to what I would expect in the 2020s. Additionally, there are an increasing number of women in the company but less so in site roles, the same can be said for ethnic minorities and openly LGBT personnel.

The industries we work in are male dominated fields but the company is always increasing our number of women employed and there are alot now

Male dominated industry, but seems to make an effort to be more inclusive

I can see a constant effort from the company to promote gender diversity, ethnic diversity, LGBT+ inclusion. Furthermore, I am aware that an individual has access to various support tools including leaves when it comes to maternity and child care.

What does your company do to attract applicants from less privileged backgrounds?
They do promote events and such for people with less privileged backgrounds, but I am unfamiliar with them.
Graduate, North Sydney
I am personally not fully aware of any programs to attract less privileged backgrounds. Not to say that they do not have them.
Graduate, Perth
UGL and CIMIC support a number of community programs to support applicants from all backgrounds.

My company does not select employees based on privileged background, track records of employees who can pass recruitment can be used to attract applicants from privileged background lessons

They work with careertrackers
Graduate, Brisbane
They don't just hire from the big universities like myself, they look at all applicants.
Graduate, Brisbane
The company has partnership with non profit organizations that help people from a less privileged backgrounds get a chance into the work force. I have seen some recruitments from organizations such as Career trackers.
