YOUR ROLE AS A GRADUATE TRADER

As a graduate trader you will:

  • Develop, maintain, and improve trading models, algorithms, and systems
  • Trade a range of financial instruments (in a highly automated way)
  • Manage the execution and risk of complex trading portfolios
  • Research new market opportunities
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with our developers and engineers to understand and improve technical infrastructure

A few reasons why this is your future job

  • You will be trained in Australia and based in Amsterdam (trading APAC markets)
  • Real-time connection to the world economy, and gain knowledge to act on it
  • Your decisions have direct impact on the company's trading profits
  • Creativity, teamwork and innovation are recognised and rewarded
  • You will have the freedom to find your niche and excel
  • You love solving complex problems

What your traineeship is all about?

  • A global training program lasting seven weeks that prepares you for the job by enhancing your knowledge about trading, trading technology and algorithms
  • A truly global initiative where you will be trained by a group of seasoned traders and engineers, and will go through the program together with peers from all the other IMC offices
  • An introduction to IMC and its people. In parallel to focusing on the content of the job you will also travel to other IMC offices, and become acquainted with the company
  • After the global training program, your local training continues, after which you will be well prepared to hit the trading desk
  • At the trading desk you will be assigned a mentor who will help you get up to speed and set you up for success

WE'RE IN THIS TOGETHER

Great relationships are based on an exchange, the give and the get. Here we get straight to the point;

The Give – what you'll need to bring

  • Academic background in a quantitative field of study (e.g. Mathematics, Physics, Econometrics or Financial Engineering)
  • Superior analytical skills
  • Experience in a programming language is an advantage (e.g. Python, Matlab, R)
  • Interest in financial markets is a must, no prior knowledge or experience is required
  • Willingness to be a team player, at IMC we're in it together.
  • You love puzzles and problem solving. You grasp concepts quickly, and feel comfortable making decisions even when you don't have all the details.

The Get – what we'll give you

  • Real projects – at IMC we get straight into it, real work from day one
  • Responsibility – this isn't a practice run, you'll make a real impact
  • The support to succeed – training programs, mentors
  • Fun work environment – social activities, cool offices with great people
  • The chance to travel and truly experience trading in global markets– we're global, you will be too.
